Have you ever heard of giving a dog Benadryl for motion sickness on long car rides?

I have a 20 lb, Australian Cattle Dog and an 80 lb Border Collie. We have to take a 12 hour car trip. Neither likes long car trips. Was going to get something from my vet but a friend of mine said that Benadryl works just as well

Children’s Benadryl is safe for dog, and yes you can use it for things like that. I give it to my dog with some wet dog food when she gets a bee sting since she has quicte the reaction to bees. But i have heard of it being used for motion sickness as well.

Benadryl is quite effective when used in proper dosages.
Stops itching
Controls vomiting
Good for motion sickness
Can be used as a mild tranquilizer
Good for snake bites
Useful for vaccination reactions
Good for bee stings and insect bites

Regular Liquid Benadryl is too high in alcohol content to be safely used for animals. Please use capsule or pill form.

Dosage every 8 hours
Dogs under 30 lbs and Cats : 10 mg
Dogs 30-50 lbs: 25 mg
Dogs over 50 lbs: 50 mg

Oh and TRAINING doesn’t always work there Tips, some dogs get car sick, just like some people get car sick. Get a grip
