Help! Husband left the country…loads of bills unpaid..could i be liable?
When I was 21 I got married with someone who turned out to be a semi-crook. He got in a bit of trouble with tax authorities. (he tells me he owes about 50,000 pounds in tax)… He was financial services company in London without FSA registration , so …He now left the country and is no longer resident here. His UK company owes a lot to a number of different parties. Currently his two partners run the firm but they may start liquidating it. Meanwhile I am worried that the state may make me liable for some of his debts.
Also I am still living in the flat my husband rented. I just discovered that he didn’t pay rent on it for 3 months already.and thatThe landlord is threatening to take away my car. to cover for the rent due. But the lease wasn’t in my name and I was unaware that my husband discontinued the payments

Get to a lawyer immediately!!!!
I think you may be ok as far as his business affairs go, unless you are named as an officer or have signing privileges etc. then that will change things.
As for the flat, I would think you would have to have the lease redone, that is if you want to stay there. So you would probably have to pay the 3 months back rent and have the lease put in your name if the landlord is willing. I would think the best thing to do would be to walk away from the flat because as you say it was in his name and your presumed rent was being paid.
I went through financial hell when my ex and I divorced, but my circumstances sound very different than yours.
So ultimately I would say get a lawyer and have him/her field any inquiries that might come your way from creditors.
