How do I stop my dog from Barking?
We have two dogs a 10 year old Maltese x Cavalier King Charles and a 7 mth old Labrador.
We took them both to the park yesterday and our 10year old was fine, and then as soon as she sees another dog she starts barking and does not stop until it is out of her sight, she would then bark at people that came close to her. We only got her 6mths ago as my partners family gave her to us.. She has always had other dogs around her but as soon as it is unfamiliar she barks. What can I do to stop her barking, otherwise she will have to stay at home whilst we take out 7mth old out .
when you take her to the park have treats on hand. when she starts barking wait for her to stop, when she does give her a treat. after a few times of doing this, when she stops barking give her a treat and firmly say no bark and use a hand signal like put both hands up or whatever you like. then after doing this many times when she barks, try giving her the command and see if she stops. it will take patience and practice, so don’t give up!
