Why is the internet on my Belkin router so bad?

I have a Belkin Wireless G Router (2.4Ghz-802.11g) With a WEP (or whatever) security key and the internet connection is absolutely awful. Although it works, videos, for example, will only load a fraction of their full length, and will stop without fully loading, and downloads will stop at a random percentage, depending on the size. I use a Norton Anti Virus and use Windows Vista Home Premium.

You are suffering from a saturation of wireless signals in your neighborhood.

To deal with this, the 802.11 spec includes 11 channels that you can tune your router to so it has a clear channel and doesn’t get stepped on by others in the area.

Most manufacturers usse channel 6 as the default, so chances are that everyone around you is there.

Go into your setup on the router and look the the dropdown menu for the channel. Change it to 1 or 11.

It has nothing to do with the OS or antivirus.
