Is there any shame in becoming british?

Travis moved to the UK from USA since 17. He is a diesel locomotive electro/mechanical engineer for research & development. He has been living in the UK for 18 years now. He has lost his American identity and now has a watered down accent. He is considered to be British now. Now married to a British woman with 4 British children living in London and Cambridge. Is there any shame in that. In crossing that line & making that drastic switchover?
Of course it’s drastic. It’s quite out of the ordinary.

Why?

These things happen all the time

The only shame is if he is not being true to himself – I’m sure he doesn’t lie about his origins and is still proud of them – all he did was persue happiness where ever it took him
