What SLR lenses allow for manual aperture control when not connected to a camera body?
I’m looking to do a project to learn more about cameras and lenses. I would like to build a custom camera. Obviously I cannot produce my own lenses, so I need to purchase some. I’ve had experience with Canon FD and EF lenses where when the lens is not connected to a Canon camera body, the aperture cannot be controlled. Which lenses are capable of the aperture control when not connected to the camera body? Are there any websites that talk about this issue?
The easiest, cheapest way to do this is to use M42 lenses. There are millions of them and they can all be found on Ebay. Here is a nice list of manufacturers

Yashica
Zeiss
Mamiya
Fujinon
Tokina
Vivtar
and bunch of others. They all should have manual focusing and exposure rings.
