daughter’s living in basement apt of landlord that died?
her, her bf and baby have been living in a basement apt of a house that the landlord owned the house, and he lived in the top. (this is pennsylvania btw).they DIDN”T have a written lease, and he died a few wks ago. the only family he has is 2 adult children that live in Connecticut.they came for about a wk after he died, cleaned out/sold stuff in the(top part) of the house and told them they had a mth to move out, and they were gonna turn off the utilities at that time.daughter’s bf’s parents tried to reason with them and tell them to let them stay at least the winter, they would have an income coming in, keep the pipes from freezing, obviously they wouldn’t be able to sell the house in the winter anyhow, and with the housing market the way it is too. but they wouldn’t budge.i need to know what their rights are??
don’t they have to give them WRITTEN notice?? as far as i know , it’s just verbal.
The notice does not have to be written. They are receiving a 30 day notice, which they are due.
The children need to winterize the property and obviously do not wish to purchase insurance to cover the rental.
Your daughter and bf need to pack up and look for another place to live.
