Connecting Refrigerator to water line.?

I would like to replace my old refrigerator with a new one with a water dispenser/ice maker. I do not have a water line that connects to the fridge. The fridge will be about 6 feet away from the kitchen sink. There are flexible braided steel lines that go from the water shut off to the water tap. Would it be okay to tee off the cold water braided steel line and connect a from there to the icemaker?

You don’t have to connect to the kitchen sink. Some questions: Are you on a crawl space? do you know where your water lines are located? Attic? connection is 3/8 fitting to a 1/4 line. Run the line through a wall, floor, or ceiling. Use a “self tapping” saddle valve.
