The biggest source of energy known to man is the sun, yet this massive atomic reactor does no harm to us; on the contrary it provides and benefits life. To put things in perspective just realize that one hour of sun radiation to the earth is equivalent to the amount of energy consume by human beings consume in an entire year. Since it produces continuous power most living organism on the planet is directly dependent of it for their survival. They have evolved, and adapted themselves in different ways to efficiently use solar energy. For example In the plants kingdom, solar energy is absorbed by well adapted leaves to metabolize food through the process known as photosynthesis. Accordingly Human beings utilize solar energy to metabolize vitamin D and E. through out the years we, human, have some how harness solar power to improve our lives. In this era we are using technology in the form of solar powered equipment to harness this infinite resource to provide for our power hungry lifestyle. These solar power equipments allow us to convert solar energy into mechanical or other types of energy.
One way of Converting solar power into other forms is to utilize the solar light to create a current flow or electricity. Electricity thus produced, then became the prime mover for the making of other forms of energy. Typically it is through this process that we power our household appliances, lighting equipment, computers and other things. These typical solar power equipments are photovoltaic cells made out of conductor and semiconductor materials such as gallium arsenide and silicon. Since a photovoltaic cell produce only a tiny amount of electricity they are set up in panels where they are interconnected to produce a desired amount of electricity. These large surfaces are them exposed to the sun to generate the power. Since a panel is set up outside it is also important to ensure its durability, in order to protect the investment of the user as it has to withstand all external environmental exposure.
Electricity generated by solar power equipment can be used for various applications ranging from small scale household appliances to large scale buildings lighting and industrial machines. At present, with more efficient panels, new installation are providing solutions by their integration in buildings, households and even machines. In California bus stop are being covered with solar panel, thus proving shade and also electricity to power the light and advertising display. In other places the parking lot is being covered with photovoltaic to generate electricity to supply the adjacent office building.
Solar power equipment comes in different varieties, shape, size, and ratings but generally has the same components, to include the following: photovoltaic cells, as mentioned earlier, a battery, an inverter and a meter. Where solar power is use for more than one appliance, banks of photovoltaic cells are combined to reach the appropriate voltage and wattage. Since the sun rays reach us only for a certain amount of time, the electricity produced needs some sort of storage for future usage, hence the necessary use of several DC batteries connected to a charger as part of a solar power energy system..The inverter on the other hand is used to converts Direct Current (DC) into Alternate Current (AC) which will provide power to AC dependent appliances. AC is the standard used for common household appliances and other electrical machinery. The last piece of the solar power equipment is the meter. This meter primarily provides a visual clue in regards to the power (watts) and voltage (volts) of the equipment.
We need to once and for all take more advantage of our sun which is the most abundant energy resource of the planet, it can providing natural, sustainable and safe energy and is inexhaustible. Solar power equipment allows us to tap into that bountiful source of energy and make good use of it. as an alternative to prowling the Earth for fossil fuels which sometimes cause huge environmental catastrophes, we should perhaps look to the sky. Without any dispute, the Sun is a clean and potent endless supply of energy, just waiting to be harnessed.
Furthermore to supplement solar power we need another method of clean energy for the time when the daylight comes to an end and we do not want to mess with batteries.
