How well does a TENS unit work?
Does it matter how long I wear a TENS unit on my back for? I’ve been using one for over an hour. Can I use it all day? Does it really help or just provide the relief while I’m actually wearing it?
You can use one for up to 2 hours at a time but never go that long with it turned to the highest setting.
It helps depending on the injury. If it’s muscular and you use the TENS every day you should feel relief in 3 to 4 days.
I would also alternate with hot, moist towels draped over the injury. Just put a wet wrung out towel in the microwave for 1 or 2 min.( don’t let it get too hot!) and place a thin fabric like t-shirt material between your skin and the towel. Leave it on for 20 min. It helps if you have someone who can keep the towels warm for you during that time if it is on your back. PLEASE remember do not get it too hot!! Good Luck
